Football Coach at Paul VI High School Steps Down

Gordon Leib guided Fairfax City school's team for four seasons.

The football coach at Paul VI Catholic High School in Fairfax City has stepped down after four years, according to a report from the Washington Post.

The Panthers went 2-8 last season after losing several players to injury. Gordon Leib, who teaches history at the private school, told the Post in an interview Thursday that he felt it was time to step down.

The school competes independent of the Washington Catholic Athletic Conference due to its smaller enrollment. Last season, the Panthers played other private schools in the region, including Bishop O’Connell, Flint Hill, Landon and the Potomac School, according to MaxPreps, a CBSSports.com website.

Before taking over at Paul VI, Leib was the head coach of the football team at Madison High School in Oakton.
