How Fairfax City Precincts Voted In 2021 Democratic Primary
Former Gov. Terry McAuliffe easily won Fairfax City precincts while different precincts preferred Hala Ayala or Sam Rasoul for lt. governor.

FAIRFAX CITY, VA — Former Gov. Terry McAuliffe handily won the Democratic nomination for governor in Tuesday's primary election, while Del. Hala Ayala secured the lieutenant governor nomination and Attorney General Mark Herring the attorney general nomination.
Statewide, McAuliffe secured 62.23 percent of the vote to Jennifer Carroll Foy's 19.83 percent and Jennifer McClellan's 11.62 percent. Other candidates were Justin Fairfax with 3.54 percent and Lee Carter with 2.78 percent.
Ayala won the lieutenant governor's primary with 37.49 percent of the vote, followed by Sam Rasoul with 24.22 percent, Mark Levine with 11.21 percent, Andria McClellan with 10.64 percent, Sean Perryman with 8.10 percent, Xavier Warren with 4.18 percent and Elizabeth Guzman with 4.15 percent.

In the Fairfax City area, Del. David Bulova did not have a challenger in the Democratic Primary, so the 37th District was not on Tuesday's ballot.
Results are also available on a county and precinct level. All Fairfax City area precincts favored McAuliffe, with over half of each precinct's votes going to the former governor.

The lieutenant governor's race didn't have the same resounding majority in local precincts. Ayala captured four of the seven precincts in Fairfax City, including precincts 1, 2 and 3, along with the absentee vote. State Del. Sam Rasoul won precincts 4, 5 and 6.
