More Women Vaccinated For COVID-19 Than Men In Virginia

Virginia Department of Health reported that women account for 56.8 percent of the people who have received one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.

VIRGINIA — Of the 3,233,915 people who have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine in Virginia as of Thursday, 1,679, 443 have been woman, according to the latest data from the Virginia Department of Health. Women account for 56.8 percent of the single doses administered in Virginia compared to 42.2 percent (1,279,791) for men.

Virginia's current population is 8,603,980, which is 50.8 percent women and 49.2 percent men, according to World Population Review.

VDH reported that 37.5 percent of Virginians have received a single dose of the vaccine. There are 1,933,945 fully vaccinated people, or 21.86 percent of the population.

Virginians can register for the vaccine at vaccinate.virginia.gov.

Residents of the Fairfax Health District (Fairfax County, towns of Vienna, Herndon and Clifton, and cities of Falls Church and Fairfax) will be able to register through the local health department until 11:59 p.m., on Saturday.

On Sunday, the Fairfax County Health Department will enter Phase 2 of the vaccination process and stop accepting registrations for the COVID-19. All adults 16 and older will be able to schedule an appointment directly by visiting VaccineFinder.org.

After April 18, people in the Phase 1 priority group in the Fairfax Health District can schedule an appointment either through VaccineFinder.org or VaccinateVirginia.gov.

COVID-19 data

COVID-19 cases, hospitalizations, and positive average of tests continue to plateau. On Wednesday, 1,415 COVID-19 cases and 19 deaths were reported by VDH. Cases had been trending down from January to early March before becoming relatively stable. The seven-day daily case average is 1,506.

The seven-day average of positive PCR tests is stable at 6.1 percent as of April 11. An average of 9,656 PCR testing encounters are reported daily across the state.

COVID-19 hospitalizations stand at 1,052, which includes 261 in the intensive care units and 146 on ventilators. Ventilator use among all hospital patients is at 30 percent, and ICU occupancy is at 79 percent, according to the Virginia Hospital & Healthcare Association.

  • Loudoun County: 26,488 cases, 988 hospitalizations, 273 deaths; increase of 58 cases and three hospitalizations
