New Cancer Treatment Center Coming To Merrifield Area
Virginia Cancer Specialists is moving from its currently location on Arlington Boulevard to a new facility nearby on Lee Highway.

FAIRFAX, VA — Fairfax-area residents will soon have a new cancer diagnosis and treatment center nearby, offering advanced cancer treatment services and technologies.
Virginia Cancer Specialists, which operates 10 locations in Northern Virginia, will be opening its new 60,000-square-foot facility on April 13 in the Merrifield area. The new center located at 8613 Lee Highway will replace the VCS' current center at 8503 Arlington Blvd.
“We are excited to open our new center,” said Dr. Dipti Patel-Donnelly, medical oncologist at VCS, in a release. “The facility is truly world class, incorporating the very latest design concepts to support patient comfort, serenity, and healing in a convenient setting close to home where patients have the support of family and friends.”

The new center will provide medical oncology, radiation oncology, surgical oncology subspecialty, and advanced diagnostic and laboratory services all under one roof. In addition, the center will offer clinical research facilities and support services.
The Radiation Oncology Center will include new Varian linear accelerator technology, which will offer intensity modulated radiotherapy (IMRT), image-guided radiotherapy (IGRT), surface-guided radiotherapy (SGRT), and stereotactic radiotherapy (SRS/SBRT). The center also includes dedicated space for high-dose rate brachytherapy (HDR) and radiopharmaceutical treatments that currently include Xofigo and Lutathera.

“As the largest comprehensive private cancer practice in Northern VA, we provide the best, most convenient and innovative services," said Dr. Stephanie Akbari, FACS, breast surgeon at VCS. "Increasing the availability of services in Northern Virginia will make the healthcare experience easier for our patients — and their families.”
