New Upscale-Casual Restaurant Coming To Chantilly, Fairfax City

FAIRFAX, VA—A new California-based eatery has announced plans to open outlets in both Fairfax and Chantilly. Say hello to Lazy Dog Restaurant & Bar, which will set up shop at Fair Oaks Mall (11750 Fair Oaks Mall) and in the Field at Commonwealth (14335-50 Newbrook Drive). Target date? Late 2019 or early 2020.

The restaurant offers so-called comfort food and traditional fare such as burgers and sandwiches, along with funky options such as "Goat Cheese + Pepper Jelly, entrees such as Pork Belly + Beans, Green Goddess Salad, BBQ Bison Meatloaf and desserts including a Peach-Huckleberry Open Face Pie, all made in house from scratch."

Bar offerings at Lazy Dog include a wide selection of craft beer and handcrafted cocktails. There's also a beer club with information about craft beers and a variety of special offers. The interior resembles something of a ski lodge, with fireplaces and the like.

"It has been a thrill to open our Lazy Dog doors in new communities and in return, be welcomed with open arms," Chris Simms, founder and CEO, said in a release. "We are so excited to serve the people of Fairfax and Chantilly. We look forward to being a comfortable place where our neighbors can stop in and relax with their friends and family."

The restaurant will be a welcome addition to the Field at Commonwealth, a 167,000 square-foot retail development off Westfields Boulevard in Chantilly. A new Wegmans opened there last summer, and as the Fairfax County Times has reported, a large restaurant has been a priority.
