Northern Virginia Weather: Damp Start To Work Week

STERLING, VA — Here's one way to look at the upcoming work week: Friday is expected to be sunny with highs in the mid 70s. Here's another way to look at the upcoming work week: If you work indoors, you'll be just fine. If you work outdoors, not so much.

The simple truth is that rain is expected for much of the week. Highs are expected to be in the low-to-mid 70s, though, so it'll be somewhat bearable. Also on the bright side, the rainy weather should clear out just in time for the Memorial Day weekend.

Today: Mostly cloudy, with a high near 70. Southeast wind around 9 mph.

Tonight: Showers likely, mainly after 2am. Cloudy, with a low around 61. Southeast wind 7 to 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.

Monday: Showers likely, with thunderstorms also possible after 11am. Cloudy, with a high near 76. Southwest wind around 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Monday Night: A slight chance of showers before 2am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 59. Light and variable wind becoming northwest around 6 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Tuesday: Showers likely, mainly after 2pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 72. North wind 3 to 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%.

Tuesday Night: Showers likely, mainly before 8pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 58. Chance of precipitation is 60%.

Wednesday: A chance of showers, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 2pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 73. Chance of precipitation is 60%.
