Northern Virginia Weekend Weather: No Worries
The weekend weather forecast for Northern Virginia, according to the National Weather Service, presents a scenario that may prompt smiles.
STERLING, VA — Following a possibly stormy Friday night, the weekend is shaping up to be pretty darn good. That's the word from the National Weather Service arm in Sterling. Both Saturday and Sunday are expected to present abundant sunshine.
Not only that, but temperatures will not be over-the-top hot, as often is the case this time of year. Instead, highs both days will be in the low to mid 80s. Things begin to change Sunday night with a chance of showers lasting into Monday. Here's the latest forecast from the National Weather Service:

Tonight (Friday): Showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly between 11pm and 2am. Some of the storms could produce gusty winds and heavy rain. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 69. Southeast wind 5 to 10 mph becoming southwest after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
Saturday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 82. Northwest wind 13 to 16 mph, with gusts as high as 24 mph.

Saturday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 63. Northwest wind 3 to 8 mph.
Sunday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 84. Calm wind becoming south around 6 mph in the afternoon.
Sunday Night: A chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 70. Chance of precipitation is 50%.
Monday: A chance of showers, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 8am. Cloudy, with a high near 82. Chance of precipitation is 70%.
