Robert William Stuckey, Sr., 77

Robert “Bob” William Stuckey, Sr. passed away on January 6, 2016 at home and in the company of his wife and family.

Bob was born October 24, 1938 in Seattle, WA to Alfred and Mildred Stuckey. He enlisted in the United States Marines before embarking on his career as a Foreign Service Officer. Bob met his wife Mary in Tegucigalpa, Honduras and together they raised three sons while serving challenging assignments across four continents including Moscow, USSR (68-71) and Kabul, Afghanistan (73-77). Bob helped reestablish the U.S. diplomatic presence in Grenada during the 1983 military operation to restore that country’s legitimate government. His final overseas post was Amman, Jordan (85-87) where his duties included frequent overland trips to Baghdad at the height of the Iran/Iraq war. Bob also completed his military career in the U.S. Army Reserve as a Special Forces NCO, finally retiring as a Master Sergeant.

Bob continued in public service as a Magistrate for the Commonwealth of Virginia. He officiated the wedding of his son Matthew and daughter-in-law Angela. During the past decade he volunteered as a Community/Police Liaison.

Bob is mourned by his wife, Mary and his three sons, Robert, David and wife Caitlyn, Matthew and wife Angela, and four grandchildren: Mary, John, Potomac and Carson.

A celebration of Bob’s life is planned for January 23rd, 1:00 – 3:00 pm at The American Legion Hall in Fairfax City, VA.
