Seaman from Fairfax Dies after 'Non-Hostile' Shooting in Bahrain
A sailor onboard the USS Gladiator died from a gunshot wound on September 27th.

The Department of Defense announced on September 28th that the U.S. Navy has identified the man who died Sunday in a non-combat related incident in Bahrain.
Seaman Philip Frazier Manes, 21, of Fairfax, Virginia, was pronounced dead at around 5:20 a.m. on Sunday. The Navy did not disclose how the shooting occurred but described it as “non-hostile fire.”
Manes was assigned to the anti-mine ship, the USS Gladiator, which is deployed in support of Operation Inherent Resolve, an operation for military intervention against the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant, including both the campaign in Iraq and Syria.
