Stovetop Fire Causes Hotel Evacuation

TownePlace Suites in Springfield was evacuated at around 11 a.m. The fire is out and hotel occupants have been allowed back in the building.

SPRINGFIELD, VA — No injuries were reported after Fairfax County fire and rescue units responded to a building fire in the 6200 block of Brandon Avenue Wednesday morning.

TownePlace Suites was evacuated at approximately 11 a.m. after a fire broke out on a stovetop, said Bill Delaney, Public Information Officer for Fairfax County Fire and Rescue. The fire has been put out and responding units left the scene shortly after.

All hotel occupants have been allowed back in the building, Delaney said, and investigators are on the scene to determine the cause of the fire.
