Do you have an umbrella handy? Weather forecasts are calling for thunderstorms this afternoon in Northern Virginia and across the Washington, D.C., region. The scattered storms are expected to last into this evening’s rush hour.

Forecasts call for high temperatures of around 85 degrees this afternoon, cooling to the high 60s this evening.

The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather outlook for small clusters of storms this afternoon and early evening for Northern Virginia, including the Fairfax area, Prince William County, Manassas and Manassas Park.

But for the rest of the week, forecasts call for lots of sunny weather with lower humidity and highs in the 80s, with virtually no chance of thunderstorms, according to the Weather Channel.
