Traffic Changes Planned Tuesday At I-66 And Rt. 123 Interchange
Two traffic changes are planned for the I-66 West exit to north and southbound Route 123/Chain Bridge Road (Exit 60).
UPDATED: Two traffic changes are planned for the I-66 West exit to north and southbound Route 123/Chain Bridge Road (Exit 60) beginning on or about Tuesday, January 28, to accommodate reconstruction of the interchange, which will include future access to the I-66 Express Lanes. (Please note: dates are subject to change.)

- Drivers exiting to Route 123 North toward Oakton will be shifted from the current temporary ramp to the new, permanent northbound ramp;
- Drivers exiting to Route 123 South toward the City of Fairfax will be shifted to the temporary ramp, where two left-turn lanes and a traffic signal will allow access to Route 123 South.
Following this traffic pattern change, the current ramp from I-66 West to Route 123 South will be demolished to allow construction of new ramps. Demolition, which is expected to begin on Wednesday, January 29, will occur during daytime hours, when possible. Demolition of the ramp over I-66 will occur during overnight hours when traffic lanes can be closed for the safety of the traveling public. Additional information about demolition and traffic closures will be provided ahead of these overnight activities.

Construction-related detours, and temporary and permanent traffic changes, will continue at the Route 123 interchange through 2022 when the new Express Lanes open. Drivers are reminded to slow down, stay alert and pay attention to lane markings, traffic signal timing and roadway signs at all times.
