Tree Removal Prompts Weekend Detours In Fairfax
Prepare for traffic detours this weekend in Fairfax while workers remove a hazardous tree on Fairfax County Courthouse property.
FAIRFAX, VA — Prepare for traffic detours this weekend, July 27-28, in while workers remove a hazardous tree on Fairfax County Courthouse property (4110 Chain Bridge Road) that extends over the roadway on Route 123/Chain Bridge Road, according to city officials.
Northbound and southbound Route 123/Chain Bridge Road will be affected at these times:
- Saturday July 27: 5 a.m. to noon
- Sunday, July 28: 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.

- Southbound Chain Bridge Road will be closed at Main Street. Traffic will detour to either westbound North Street or westbound Main Street, turn left to Judicial Drive, and follow Judicial Dr back to Chain Bridge Road.
- Northbound Chain Bridge Rd traffic will be stopped periodically for up to 10 minutesat a time to safely lower cut tree limbs to the ground.
Drivers are reminded that University Drive is an alternate north-south route through Old Town Fairfax that will avoid this work zone. Expect delays, and consider alternate routes.
