Video: Sneaky Fox Snacks On Cat Treats Outside Fairfax Home
A fox is captured on video eating snack treats from a Fairfax County windowsill early Friday morning.

FAIRFAX, VA — A fox sneakily gobbled up some cat treats in broad daylight early Friday morning from the windowsill of a Fairfax County home, according to a video captured on Ring.com.
The fox is an occasional visitor to the home, which is located north of the City of Fairfax. The family of a Patch editor has been feeding a feral cat that lives in the neighborhood. They occasionally put treats on the windowsill for the cat, whom they've nicknamed "Popeye."
Popeye tends to swing by early in the morning for his food and treats, before disappearing for the rest of the day. He'll come back in the evening for dinner and then return throughout the night for snacks.

Sometimes, Popeye and the fox run into each other, which will lead to a confrontation. Back in April, the Ring camera captured Popeye aggressively chasing the fox away in order to defend his food bowl.
This time, the fox showed up shortly before 6 a.m., after Popeye finished his breakfast. The fox is both bold and cautious as he eats up the snacks. He also nibbles from Popeye's bowl on the ground, before running way.

The crows heard in the background are also aware of the treats. Throughout the day, they'll swoop down to the windowsill, pick up a treat with their beak, and then soak it in the nearby water bowl to soften it up.
The family has noticed one of Popeye's ears has been clipped, which indicates he has previously been trapped, neutered and then released. This is done because it's difficult to domesticate some feral cats. Rather than euthanizing them, they're caught and then altered, as a way to minimize the number of feral kittens born in the county.
