Virginia Coronavirus Update: 2,304 Additional Cases Reported

VIRGINIA — According to Virginia Department of Health data as of Thursday, 1,471,242 COVID-19 vaccine doses have been administered in Virginia, or approximately 83 percent of the 1,766,575 doses distributed. There are 1,077,936 people with at least one dose (12.6 percent of the population) and 393,306 with two doses (4.5 percent of the population).

The state is averaging 35,167 doses administered per day. Hospitals lead with 496,357 total doses given, followed by local health departments with 443,278, long-term care facilities with 182,529, community health providers with 141,275, medical practices with 145,275, and pharmacies with 62,410.

An additional 2,304 coronavirus cases were reported on Thursday, and the seven-day average of daily cases is 2,411. Northern Virginia has 480 new cases and a seven-day average of 534. The cumulative case total for Virginia is 557,896.

There were 15 new deaths reported on Thursday, and 7,090 deaths to date have been attributed to COVID-19.

Current hospitalizations stand at 1,826, including 364 in the intensive care units and 218 on ventilators. Northern Virginia has 314 current patients.

As reported by the Virginia Hospital & Healthcare Association, ICU occupancy among all hospital patients is at 81 percent, and ventilator use is at 31 percent.

Virginia's seven-day average of positive tests stands at 8.6 percent as of Feb. 14. The average has been trending down since reaching a winter peak of 17.4 percent on Jan. 3. Northern Virginia's average is 7.2 percent, compared to a winter peak of 16.6 percent on Jan. 2.

The average number of daily PCR testing encounters is trending down since peaking at 35,024 on Jan. 14. The latest average is 22,617, while Northern Virginia alone averages 5,678 daily testing encounters.

  • Alexandria: 10,092 cases, 498 hospitalizations, 104 deaths; increase of 36 cases and two hospitalizations
  • Arlington County: 12,726 cases, 752 hospitalizations, 211 deaths; increase of 42 cases and one hospitalization, and one death
  • Fairfax County: 64,568 cases, 3,441 hospitalizations, 834 deaths; increase of 201 cases andfive hospitalizations
  • Fairfax City: 473 cases, 35 hospitalizations, 12 deaths; increase of five cases
  • Falls Church: 333 cases, 20 hospitalizations, seven deaths; increase of two cases
  • Loudoun County: 22,405 cases, 828 hospitalizations, 195 deaths; increase of 54 cases and six hospitalizations
  • Manassas: 3,935 cases, 159 hospitalizations, 33 deaths; increase of five cases
  • Manassas Park: 1,112 cases, 66 hospitalizations, eight deaths; increase of two case
  • Prince William County: 38,318 cases, 1,363 hospitalizations, 328 deaths; increase of 121 cases and two hospitalizations
