Virginia Gas Shortage: Where To Find Gas In Fairfax City
Panic buying after a cyberattack prompted a temporary pipeline shutdown has prompted gas shortages throughout VA. Here's how to find gas.

FAIRFAX CITY, VA — Drivers in Fairfax City and throughout Virginia are finding a rude awakening at gas stations this week. Panic buying following a cyberattack and temporary shutdown of a regional pipeline has led to widespread gas shortages in the region.
As of early Wednesday morning, 15 percent of Virginia's nearly 3,900 stations were without gasoline, up from 7 percent Tuesday afternoon, according to GasBuddy
Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam declared a state of emergency Tuesday to help the state prepare for potential supply shortages. The emergency declaration also allows state authorities to crack down on price gouging of gas and fuel.

Patch reached out on Neighbor posts and Facebook to readers on around the area, asking them to share their experiences shopping for gas.
"I had an appointment in Vienna this morning, and I was going to fill up while I was there, but there is no gas in Vienna, so don't even try," Lyn Adams of Fairfax said, in a Neighbor post. "At 10:30 this morning, there was still gas at Tysons."

Mark Meinke of Fairfax was looking for a gas station in the city that still had gas but wasn't mobbed.
"No luck," he said, in a Neighbor post. "We passed a Sunoco, Exxon and Mobil that were out of gas and another Sunoco and an Exxon that had long lines of waiting cars."
Reston resident named Jeff said in a Neighbor post that he drove all the way to Fairfax and none of the stations he encountered had gas for sale.
"Just went to Costco on West Ox Road and the line of cars was at least 1/4 mile long," he said. "Same for the 7-Eleven across the street."
In another Neighbor post, Natasha Wilson of Fairfax City reported that some Loudoun County gas stations still had gas but they all had long lines.
Drivers can scout ahead for fuel by using online tools, such as the website and phone app Gas Buddy, which has updates on stations that still have gas supply and those that are running low.
According to GasBuddy, the following gas stations in Fairfax City still had gas as of early Wednesday afternoon:

- Liberty, 9555 Fairfax Blvd., Fairfax
- Exxon, 5211 Ox Road, Fairfax
- Citgo, 9501 Blake Lane, Fairfax
- Costco, 4725 West Ox Road, Fairfax
- Exxon, 13000 Fair Lakes Shopping Center, Fairfax
- BJ's, 13053 Fair Lakes Shopping Center, Fairfax
- Express Stop, 9550 Old Keene Mill Road, Burke
- Crown, 7610 Lee Highway, Falls Church
- Exxon, 7336 Little River Turnpike, Annandale
- Exxon, 7269 Arlington Blvd., Falls Church
