Weekend Metro Schedule: Station Closed, Lines Single-Track, More

WASHINGTON, DC — There are plenty of things to do and see in the D.C. area this weekend. Some attractions you'll find include: the Mount Vernon Spring Wine Festival & Sunset Tour, Game of Thrones Trivia, Baby Goat Yoga, and DC Bike Ride.

If you're thinking of taking the Metro on Saturday, May 18 or Sunday, May 19, you should plan accordingly: Some lines will single-track. Here's everything you need to know before heading out for the weekend:

Red Line trains will operate every 8 minutes between Silver Spring and Van Ness-UDC from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Trains will run every 16 minutes between Glenmont and Shady Grove. Lastly, trains will single-track between Friendship Heights and Medical Center.

Orange Line trains will operate every 18 minutes, but will single-track between Cheverly and New Carrollton.

To coordinate with rebuilding on other lines, Silver Line trains will run every 14 minutes.

According to Metro officials, Blue Line trains will operate as Yellow Line trains between Franconia-Springfield and Greenbelt. Here's what else you need to know:

  • Trains will only run every 20 minutes between Franconia-Springfield and Greenbelt
  • Free shuttle buses will replace trains between Arlington Cemetery and Pentagon
  • Arlington Cemetery station will be closed
  • Riders traveling to and from Benning Road, Capitol Heights, Addison Road, Morgan Boulevard, and Largo Town Center should use the Silver Line to get to their destination
  • Trains will single-track between Braddock Road and Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport

Yellow Line trains will run every 20 minutes and single-track between Braddock Roadand Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport. From opening until 10 p.m., trains will single-track between Huntington and Mt. Vernon Square. Riders traveling to and from stations north of Mount Vernon Square should use the Green Line to get to their destination.

Green Line trains will operate on a regular weekend schedule.
