What's Open, Closed On Presidents Day 2018 In Fairfax City

A handful of services in Fairfax City will take a long weekend to celebrate Presidents Day.

FAIRFAX CITY — As Americans commemorate Washington and Lincoln's birthdays for Presidents Day, a handful of services will be closed for the federal holiday on Monday, Feb. 19.

City of Fairfax and Fairfax County offices are closed, in addition to Fairfax City and Fairfax County public schools. Services like public transportation will operate, although on different schedules.

  • City of Fairfax and Fairfax County Offices: Closed Monday, Feb. 19
  • Fairfax City and Fairfax County Public Schools: Closed Monday, Feb. 19
  • State Offices: Commonwealth of Virginia offices in Fairfax City and Fairfax County will be closed Monday, Feb. 19, including Circuit Court, General District Court and Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court.
  • Fairfax County Animal Shelter: Closed Mondays
  • Community Centers: Fairfax County Neighborhood and Community Services (NCS) programs, activities and facilities will be closed Monday, Feb. 19
  • Fairfax Connector and Fastran: Fairfax Connector bus service will operate on a holiday weekday schedule on Monday, Feb. 19. See www.fairfaxcounty.gov/connecto... for more information. Fastran will not operate.
  • CUE Bus system will operate on a modified weekday service on Monday, Feb. 19.
  • Libraries: Fairfax County libraries are closed on Monday, Feb. 19
  • The Fairfax Museum & Visitor Center will be open.
  • Metrorail: Metrorail will open 5 a.m. and close at 11:30 p.m., operating on a Saturday schedule. No track work is scheduled. Parking is free.
  • Metrobus: Buses will operate on a Saturday supplemental schedule. Some trips after midnight will not operate. See more information at www.wmata.com.
  • Parking: Parking is free at park and ride locations and Metro parking lots.
  • Fairfax County Parks: Open. See hours at fairfaxcounty.gov/parks/holiday-hours.
  • Fairfax County Recreation Centers: Open
  • Recycling: I-66 Transfer Station (4618 West Ox Road, Fairfax) and I-95 Landfill (9850 Furnace Road, Lorton) will be open.
  • In Fairfax City, refuse and recycling are not collected — Monday refuse and recycling route will be collected on Tuesday, Feb. 20.
