Wind Chill May Go Below Zero

National Weather Service warns that advisories may be necessary Monday — and to get worse Tuesday.

Snow could barely stick on the groundSunday afternoon as temperatures climbed above freezing. But the forecast calls for a sharp, and potentially dangerous, drop in the temperature and the wind chill by Monday morning.

Northern Virginia residents will be waking up Monday with the temperature at 17 degrees, but the “feels like” temperature at -1 degree.

The cool air will keep the wind chill under 10 degrees throughout Monday, and take an even more dramatic dip in time for the Tuesday morning commute.

The ”feels like” temperature at 7 a.m. Tuesday is expected to be -6 degrees. Again, the wind chill will peak at 10 degrees.

Temperatures will be back toward the freezing mark for Wednesday and Thursday before the potential for a snow event in time for the weekend.
