Woodson High School Announces Homecoming Changes

The high school announced changes due to weather reports of Hurricane Joaquin this weekend.

Scott Poole, the principal of Woodson High School is trying to prepare ahead due to inclement weather and preserve Homecoming weekend for students, according to a letter to staff, students, and faculty.

Here’s the latest:

  • Varsity football game moved to tonight at 7:30PM. Our freshmen and JV football games have been postponed and will be rescheduled at a later date. We are making this abrupt change due to the possibility that games will be cancelled by FCPS due the inclement weather forecast through Monday night.
  • Homecoming Parade has been canceled: We cannot reschedule it to the numerous permits and logistics involved.
  • Homecoming Pig-Out has been rescheduled to Friday, October 30th prior to our last home football game and Senior Night.
  • Homecoming Dance is scheduled to remain as planned for Saturday night.
  • Homecoming Pep Rally moved indoors tomorrow: rather than be held in the football stadium we are going to hold two pep rallies in the main gym from 9:40-10:29 and 10:34-11:15. Homecoming Court will be announced during each rally.
  • Field hockey games have been canceled and will be rescheduled.
  • Varsity Volleyball game has been moved to 5:30 this afternoon. The game was originally scheduled at 7:15PM.
  • Freshmen and JV Volleyball have been postponed and will be rescheduled at a later date.
