Fairfax Station Families: Deadline Nears for Thomas Jefferson High Application

Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) has announced the deadline for submitting online and paper applications for Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology (TJHSST) for the 2015-16 freshman class is Friday, October 17, at 4 p.m.

The paper applications should be turned into the designated TJHSST liaison counselor at the student’s middle school or to the Thomas Jefferson admissions office, if the student’s school does not have a liaison counselor. There are no exceptions to the application deadline. Applications postmarked on the deadline day will not be accepted.

Eighth-grade students are eligible to apply to the freshman class at TJHSST if, at the time of application, they live with a parent or legal guardian who resides full time in, and meets the residency requirements of, one of the Northern Virginia school divisions that participate in TJHSST. Those participating school divisions currently are: the counties of Fairfax, Arlington, Loudoun, and Prince William, and the City of Falls Church. Students must also be enrolled in Algebra 1 or a higher level mathematics course in grade 8 to be eligible to apply to TJHSST.

The online application system is accessible through the admissions website atwww.TJAdmissions.org. Paper applications are available at all public middle schools in participating school districts and at many private schools.

At each public middle school, the TJHSST liaison counselor has applications as well as guidelines for the paper application process. Students who do not attend a public middle school may obtain a paper application by contacting the Thomas Jefferson admissions office at 571-423-3770, Monday through Friday, between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. The Thomas Jefferson admissions office is located at the Gatehouse Administration Center, 8115 Gatehouse Road, Suite 2600, Falls Church, Virginia 22042.
