Set in the little village of Anatevka, the story centers on Tevye, a poor dairyman, and his five daughters. With the help of a colorful and tight-knit community, Tevye tries to protect his daughters and instill them with tradition in the face of changing social mores. The show features some of the most memorable roles in the musical theatre canon. Its celebrated score, by Jerry Bock and Sheldon Harnick, features songs loved the world over, including “Tradition,” “If I Were A Rich Man,” and “Sunrise, Sunset.”
Northern Virginia Players’ proud tradition of outstanding musicals will once again bring professional level theatre to our community. Thirty Nine actors age 8-18 will share their enthusiasm and love for song and dance, while delighting the audience. “Their love and enthusiasm shines through in their performances,” says Burke Connection. “While producing quality community theater for children,” as written in Fairfax Times. Fiddler on the Roof JR marks the start of their fifth season and in their short tenure, Northern Virginia Players has become one of the most dynamic children’s theatre troupes in the DC Metro area.
Northern Virginia Players is pleased to present their first production on a thrust stage providing a more intimate theatre experience and the perfect setting for this show. It will be held at The Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge, 9612 Fernedge Lane, Lorton, Virginia.
In keeping with Northern Virginia Players commitment to service, part of the ticket proceeds will be donated to Phoenix Rising. Phoenix Rising assists the homeless in need living along the Route One corridor in Alexandria. In addition to part of the ticket proceeds, donations will be accepted at all shows.
