Rescue Me: Adopt This Lovable, Hard-Knock Husky

FAIRFAX STATION, VA — Leo is just over 2 1/2 years old and he's a Husky.

Life hasn't always been kind to Leo, but we want to make sure those hard days are a thing of the past. Leo loves other dogs but can be a little shy around new people. Some might call him an introvert, but really he just likes to have a small circle of friends. With Leo you don't have to worry about a dog who wants to spend their weekends visiting friends. He won't judge you for spending a little too much time on the couch watching TV. As long as he gets his walks in, he'll be a happy companion.

Leo is originally from a very crowded rural Virginia shelter. He ended up there after his owner moved and elected not to take Leo with them. He was a shelter staff favorite and they begged Homeward Trails to help change Leo's life.

Homeward Trails Animal Rescue adopts pets to homes in Washington, D.C., Virginia and Maryland. Anyone interested in our animals can complete an adoption questionnaire. We work with applicants to ensure a good match between them and the pet and vice versa, the adoption questionnaire is how we start the adoption discussion. Most of our animals are in foster homes in the area. Others are available to meet by appointment at our Adoption Center.
