Viking Wedding to be Celebrated in Clifton, VA
Feasting to follow with archers, goats, and a Viking encampment
Local children’s book author, Ed Ehlers and American Academy of PA’s executive, Lisa Gables are making their hands fast with a Viking wedding and feast. The ceremony is to take place on October 13, 2016 in Clifton, Va. The ceremony will be at the Primitive Baptist Church which was built in 1871 by emancipated slaves. A Viking feast will follow at the 1930’s era Clifton Barn which will have been transformed into a Viking long house. Goats will be on hand from Browsing Green Goats (browsinggreengoats.com) and the Northern Virginia Archers (novaarchers.org) will provide a demonstration. Viking reenactors (Society of Amateur Vikings for General Reenactment, Maryland Saga, and Nords Wanderers) will lead the procession from the church with war horns trumpeting and will encamp at the long house.
Ehlers is the author of the children’s book series, Max & Tucker Adventures which are true stories of how Max & Tucker, Australian Shepherd brothers, helped rescue abandoned puppies and stranded deer in the northern Virginia woods. Proceeds from the sale of the books are donated to local animal rescue organizations (lostdogrescue.org and wildliferescueleague.org).
