City Council and School Board contests to be held on November 2, 2021

Ordinance No. 21-04 was passed on April 13, 2021 by the Fredericksburg City Council. This ordinance moves the City Council and School Board elections from May even years to November odd years. The immediate impact of this legislation is that all ward specific City Council and School Board positions will appear on the November 2, 2021 General Election ballot.

The deadline for candidates to qualify for the above races is June 8, 2021 at 7:00 p.m. Those interested in running for these offices should review qualification requirements on the Virginia Department of Elections website HERE. Additionally, candidate qualification form packets are available in the office of the Voter Registrar during regular business hours; Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Candidates are required to complete the filing of all required forms no later than June 8, 2021 at 7:00 p.m.
