Convenience Store Burglarized In Fredericksburg: Police
A Fredericksburg man was arrested and charged in connection with the burglary of the Express Food Mart on Sunday, according to police.
FREDERICKSBURG, VA — One man was arrested and charged in connection with the burglary of the Express Food Mart in Fredericksburg on Sunday, according to the Fredericksburg Police Department. Authorities claimed they caught the man, Riley Redfern of Fredericksburg, in the act of breaking into and burglarizing the convenience store.
Officers with the Fredericksburg Police Department received a report for a burglary in progress around 1:30 a.m. on Sunday, June 13. The reported break-in was occurring at the Express Food Mart located in the 1200 block of Jefferson Davis Highway in Fredericksburg, according to a Facebook post published by the police department.
When officers arrived on the scene, they said they saw a man dressed in all black wearing a mask inside the store. They ordered the suspect to leave the store and took him into custody.

During their investigation, authorities identified Redfern as the suspect. They also noted that the business's front glass door was shattered in the burglary attempt, according to the report.
Redfern was charged with petit larceny, destruction of property, possession of burglarious tools, and burglary with possession of a deadly weapon. In the Facebook post, authorities did not disclose the weapon that they claimed Redfern possessed.

Redfern is currently being held without bond at the Rappahannock Regional Jail. He was arraigned on Tuesday, June 15, and his next court date, a preliminary hearing, is scheduled for Aug. 19.
Redfern was previously charged with misdemeanor shoplifting related to an incident in January, according to judicial records. He was charged in Spotsylvania General District Court. His next court date in the shoplifting case is still scheduled for October. The court's online system notes that his October court date is scheduled for sentencing.
