Dance School Celebrates Inaugural International Irish Dance Day
All Irish dance enthusiasts are invited to stop what they are doing at 5 p.m., get up and dance, and share their dance on social media.

FREDERICKSBURG, VA — The Irish have St. Patrick's Day. Now they have International Irish Dance Day, also known as halfway to St. Patrick's Day.
On Sept. 17, Irish dancers around the world are invited to participate in the first-ever International Irish Dance Day, a day founded to spread the joy of Irish dance around the world.
This year was chosen as the inaugural year to celebrate Irish dance due to the coronavirus crisis and the need for connection and unity in trying times. All Irish dance enthusiasts are invited to stop what they are doing at 5 p.m. their local time, get up and dance, and share their dance on social media.

The Muggivan School of Irish Dance in Fredericksburg is participating in International Irish Dance Day in 2020 by offering free trial classes in celebration of the day. The classes, which accept dancers ages 2 to adult, are held in person and virtually.
The Muggivan School, at 1498 Central Park Boulevard, said it is taking safety precautions to ensure its studio is a safe environment for classes during the pandemic.
