Dog In Dumpster Saved By Petersburg Trash Truck Driver: Report
A garbage truck driver spotted a dog inside a trash dumpster in Petersburg Friday morning just before he emptied the dumpster.

PETERSBURG, VA — A garbage truck driver spotted a dog inside a trash dumpster in Petersburg Friday morning just before he emptied the dumpster.
Seeing the dog inside the dumpster unsettled the driver, Jermaine Jackson, a Waste Management employee, because he was about to dump the contents into his truck, WTVR reported Tuesday.
Jackson put the dumpster back on the ground and was able to free the dog from the dumpster. He built the dog a makeshift shelter and called animal control. But the shelter was not open yet, according to WTVR.

A neighbor took care of the dog on her front porch while she waited for animal control. “We just sat out here with her. She was sweet as she could be,” the neighbor told WTVR.
When they arrived, animal control told the neighbor that the dog was full of milk and would have recently had puppies.

Jackson said there was no way the dog got in the dumpster on her own. “I think somebody threw her in there because where the dock is at, she’s too short to jump on that dock,” he said.
