Earth Day 2018: Fredericksburg Throws River Festival

Celebrate Earth Day 2018 down by the river. It's Fredericksbug's 15th annual Earth Day on the Rappahannock at Old Mill Park.

FREDERICKSBURG, VA—Earth Day will soon be upon us, and that means heading to the river for a lot of area residents. It's Fredericksburg's 15th annual Earth Day on the Rappahannock, 11 a.m.-4 p.m. April 21 at Old Mill Park, 2201 Caroline Street.

Its mission, according to organizers, "is to provide and enjoyable and engaging family-friendly event devoted to environmental awareness and stewardship." That, and an opportunity to party by the river.

On hand will be live music, food, hands-on activities and exhibits, animals, pony rides, face painting and more. It's free. Nationally, the theme for Earth Day 2018 is combating plastic pollution, and that's sure to be addressed. (The rain date is April 28). Here's the stage schedule:
