The public is cordially invited to attend a preview screening of Freedom Riders, a PBS American Experience Film on Wednesday, March 30 at 7 p.m. in the Dodd Auditorium of George Washington Hall on the Campus of the University of Mary Washington.
Freedom Riders shows the heroic odyssey of more than 400 black and white Americans who used non-violence to desegregate interstate bus transportation facilities. Their struggle paved the way for the civil rights era. Along they way they faced violent racism and government sanctioned mob brutality.
