Fredericksburg Area Vaccine Update: 60s Age Group Leads The Way
New data from the Rappahannock Area Health District shows the ages and ethnicities of those who are receiving the vaccine in the region.

FREDERICKSBURG, VA — People aged 60-69 are still leading the way in vaccines administered in Fredericksburg and Stafford County, according to the most recent data from the Rappahannock Area Health District. The 70s age group has the most people who are fully vaccinated.
The Rappahannock Area Health District, like the rest of Virginia, is working on vaccinating people in Phase 1b of the state's vaccine rollout plan. This includes frontline essential workers, people over the age of 65, and those with underlying medical conditions.
The Rappahannock Area Health District operates vaccine clinics in different areas in the region on different days of the week. All vaccines are being offered by appointment only to those who are pre-registered on the state's waitlist.

On Mondays, the health district operates a vaccine clinic in Caroline County. On Tuesdays, they operate a clinic in Fredericksburg. On Wednesdays, the clinic is in Spotsylvania County. On Thursdays, it's in Stafford County. On Fridays, they vaccinate people in King George County.
Based on the data available on the Virginia Department of Health's website, about 60 per cent of those over the age of 80 in Fredericksburg and Stafford and 58 per cent of those aged 70-79 have received at least one dose of the coronavirus vaccine. - 0-9: 0 doses
- 10-19: 356 first doses, 144 fully vaccinated
- 20-29: 2,711 first doses, 1,733 fully vaccinated
- 30-39: 3,312 first doses, 2,104 fully vaccinated
- 40-49: 4,458 first doses, 2,697 fully vaccinated
- 50-59: 5,783 first doses, 3,198 fully vaccinated
- 60-69: 6,447 first doses, 3,492 fully vaccinated
- 70-79: 5,279 first doses, 3,660 fully vaccinated
- 80 and over: 2,401 first doses, 1,834 fully vaccinated
The Virginia Department of Health also posts information on the ethnicities of those who receive the vaccine. In Stafford and Fredericksburg, Black residents are the least likely to be vaccinated on a per capita basis. 4,312 per 100,000 Black residents have received at least one vaccine dose.
Here is the full breakdown based on race and ethnicity:
- Asian or Pacific Islander: 407 first doses, 180 fully vaccinated
- Black: 1,621 first doses, 782 fully vaccinated
- Latino: 1,808 first doses, 951 fully vaccinated
- Native American: 92 first doses, 28 fully vaccinated
- White: 11,094 first doses, 6,576 fully vaccinated
- Other: 729 first doses, 449 fully vaccinated
Residents across Virginia can pre-register for the vaccine online, regardless of their current eligibility. Those without internet access can also call the state's vaccine hotline to make an appointment. The hotline can be reached at 1-877-VAX-IN-VA, or 1-877-829-4682.
