Fredericksburg Man Dies in Single-Car Crash

Phillip Oliver, 20, died at the scene of the crash.

A Fredericksburg man has died after he was ejected from his car from a crash, Virginia State Police (VSP) spokesperson Corinne Geller said in a news release.

Geller said Phillip Oliver, 20, was not wearing a seatbelt and died at the scene of the crash, which occurred on Route 616, less than one mile south of Harwood Lane. VSP trooper M.E. Baker responded to the single-vehicle crash in Stafford County at 5 a.m. Saturday morning.

"A 2000 Toyota Camry was southbound on Route 616 when it ran off the left side of the road as it came through a curve," said Geller in a release. "The car struck a ditch, struck several mailboxes, overturned and struck a utility pole."

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
