Fredericksburg Shooting Injures One, Suspect At Large: Police
A woman was shot in Fredericksburg on the 4th of July, and authorities have not been able to identify a suspect yet.
FREDERICKSBURG, VA — A woman was shot in Fredericksburg on the Fourth of July, according to the Fredericksburg Police Department. Authorities have not identified a suspect in the shooting.
The victim was taken to a hospital by rescue personnel. The police department said she is in stable condition.
The shooting occurred around 2 p.m. on Sunday, according to a news release from the police department. A woman called 911 to report that she had been shot in the 1700 block of Lafayette Boulevard.

911 operators advised the woman on providing self-aid while she awaited rescue personnel. First responders then arrived and transported the victim to an area hospital, according to the news release.
Authorities only described the victim as a 49-year-old woman. Initially, the police department said the victim's injuries were life-threatening. However, they noted that she is in stable condition in a later update.

When police officers arrived on the scene, they established a perimeter to secure the crime scene while awaiting a detective, authorities said. K9 units from the nearby Stafford County Sheriff's Office and Spotsylvania County Sheriff's Office responded to search for the suspect.

A heavy police presence was on scene for several hours near Wellington Woods and Confederate Ridge.
The suspect was not located, the Fredericksburg Police Department said. They also did not identify a possible suspect in the shooting.
Authorities also did not disclose any possible motive behind the shooting.
