Libraries To Host Transportation Planning Listening Sessions

The Fredericksburg Area Metropolitan Planning Organization is holding a listening tour to learn about the public's transportation priorities

FREDERICKSBURG, VA — The Fredericksburg Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (FAMPO) is holding a listening tour starting in February to learn about residents' transportation priorities for the Fredericksburg area. The listening sessions will be held at various Central Rappahannock Regional Library branches.

The community outreach sessions, which will last through March, also will give the public a chance to review draft transportation plans for the Fredericksburg region and provide feedback on the proposals. FAMPO, a federally mandated planning body, serves as the primary forum where policymakers can work with the public to develop local transportation plans.

"This listening tour will allow us to learn about the types of transportation projects residents
want prioritized and how regional transportation options impact their lives," Stacey Feindt, FAMPO's public involvement coordinator, said Thursday in a statement. "The public's input will help us make more informed transportation decisions."

During listening sessions, members of the public will be able to stop by a FAMPO table in
the library's lobby and provide feedback on regional transportation plans, present details on their transportation priorities and ask questions.

"We are holding our listening sessions at public libraries because public libraries attract, and
are accessible to, a diverse set of residents," Feindt said.
