Local McDonalds Owner Recognized for Community Service
Stafford County Owner/Operator Eric Miller recognized for outstanding service to the community

Local business owner Eric Miller has been named the 2010 recipient of the Ronald Award from the McDonald’s Corporation. The honor is presented to McDonald’s franchisees for outstanding service to the company and local community. Given to only one percent of McDonald's owners nationwide, this award is the highest honor a region can bestow upon a franchisee. Miller operates seven McDonald’s restaurants in the Stafford, Spotsylvania, and Fredericksburg areas.
“From partnerships with local schools, to dedication to the Ronald McDonald House Charities, to health fairs and county fairs, Eric Miller embodies the McDonald’s spirit,” said Albert Seecharan, Vice President and General Manager of McDonald’s USA, Baltimore Washington Region. “It is truly his goal to deliver an extraordinary McDonald’s experience to each and every customer and it shows.”
Miller’s career began as a crew person at McDonald’s at the age of 15 in Minnesota. In 1992 he became a franchisee and opened his first McDonald’s restaurant in Stafford, VA. When establishing a restaurant in a community, he aims to become a “best in class” employer by valuing every employee and recognizing their growth and contributions. As a result, his managers are consistently ranked at the top in performance, parents frequently ask if their children can work at his restaurants, and high school employees encourage their friends to join the McDonald’s team. A number of Miller’s employees have been with his organization for over nine years and several since his first restaurant opened.

“You’d be amazed how many customers know him in the community,” said Kris Williams, Miller’s Director of Operations. “He believes community is important and lives that every day, whether through restaurant events, support of local youth organizations, or encouraging staff to be involved in the community.”
Miller focuses his organizations efforts on two key areas – education and youth programs. He partners with local schools and PTA’s to host McEducator nights as well as feature student artwork in his restaurants. Miller has also raised funds and donated items to several local youth organizations.

“I am very honored and humbled to be included in this elite group,” said Miller. “Supporting my community and employees is not just a part of the business, it is a passion I’ve had since starting as a crew member over 40 years ago."
