Major Overnight Delays On I-95 To Last All Week In Stafford

STAFFORD COUNTY, VA — Interstate 95 travelers will face major overnight delays in Stafford County on most evenings this week as construction crews demolish the Route 652 (Truslow Road) overpass, located between the Route 17 exit (Exit 133) and Centreport Parkway exit (Exit 136), according to the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT). Full traffic stops on I-95 in both directions will be needed on several evenings this week between midnight and 3 a.m.

Traffic may be stopped for up to 30 minutes at a time. In between each stop, congestion will be allowed to clear before the next full stop, VDOT said. Virginia State Police will assist with traffic control in the work zone.

Stopping all I-95 traffic is necessary, according to VDOT, to allow crews to use a crane to remove bridge beams and pieces of the bridge deck located over the travel lanes. Crews are replacing the Truslow Road overpass as part of the I-95 Express Lanes Fredericksburg Extension project.

Drivers should consider using Route 1 as an alternate route to avoid delays, VDOT said. Message boards will be posted along I-95 to alert motorists to delays ahead.

Monday, Feb. 3 – Tuesday, Feb. 4
I-95 Northbound

• 9 p.m. – Single lane closure
• 10 p.m. – 4:30 a.m. – Double lane closure
• Midnight to 3 a.m. – Intermittent full traffic stops up to 30 minutes

I-95 Southbound

• 9 p.m. – Single lane closure
• 10 p.m. – 5:30 a.m. – Double lane closure
• Midnight to 3 a.m. – Intermittent full traffic stops up to 30 minutes

Tuesday, Feb. 4 – Wednesday, Feb. 5
I-95 Northbound

• 10 p.m. – 4:30 a.m. – Double lane closure
• Midnight to 3 a.m. – Intermittent full traffic stops up to 30 minutes

I-95 Southbound

• 10 p.m. – 5:30 a.m. – Double lane closure
• Midnight to 3 a.m. – Intermittent full traffic stops up to 30 minutes

Wednesday, Feb. 5 – Thursday, Feb. 6
I-95 Northbound

• 9 p.m. – 4:30 a.m. – Single lane closure
• Midnight to 3 a.m. – Intermittent full traffic stops up to 30 minutes

I-95 Southbound

• 9 p.m. – 10 a.m. – Single lane closure
• Midnight to 3 a.m. – Intermittent full traffic stops up to 30 minutes

Thursday, Feb. 6 – Friday, Feb. 7
I-95 Northbound
