Man Wins $1M From Virginia Lottery Scratcher In Fredericksburg

A North Carolina resident working in Virginia went to the store to buy dishwashing detergent and walked away with a $1M lottery ticket.

FREDERICKSBURG, VA — Brian Jasper went to the Royal Farms store on Jefferson Davis Highway in Fredericksburg to buy dishwashing detergent for his job. He left the store with a winning lottery ticket worth $1M.

"I saw all the zeros, and it blew my mind,” Jasper said to lottery officials. "I’ve never won something like this before!"

Jasper builds paint booths for body shops, the Virginia Lottery said. He bought his winning Commonwealth scratcher at the Royal Farms store located at 5301 Jefferson Davis Highway in Fredericksburg.

Jasper chose to take his winnings in a cash payment of $640,205, instead of $1 million over the course of thirty years. He told lottery officials that he would use the money to help his small business.
