Measurable Snowfall Forecast To Stay Southeast Of Fredericksburg

Road crews in the Northern Neck, Middle Peninsula and Fredericksburg region are prepared for possible snowfall Thursday night.

FREDERICKSBURG, VA — Road crews in the Northern Neck, Middle Peninsula and Fredericksburg region are mobilizing ahead of possible snowfall starting late Thursday afternoon. Crews will work overnight to patrol Interstate 95, primary roads and high-volume secondary roads for any hazardous travel conditions, the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) said.

Trucks will apply sand, salt and treatment materials to reduce icing and improve motorist traction. Plowing will be performed as needed to clear away slush, and where 2 inches of snow or more has accumulated on the road surface.

The National Weather Service said there is a slight chance of snow showers in Fredericksburg between 7 p.m. and 10 p.m. Thursday. Measurable snowfall is forecast for southeastern Virginia, where areas from Williamsburg southward are expected to get anywhere from 1 to 4 inches of snow Thursday night, according to the weather service.
