New Assistant Principals Named At Stafford Schools
Stafford County Public Schools has announced more new assistant principals for the coming school year.

STAFFORD, VA – The Stafford County School Board has approved the following new assistant principals:
Mariely Correa-Rodriguez, Assistant Principal, Stafford High School
Prior to assuming this role, Correa-Rodriguez served as an administrative intern and teacher on administrative assignment in Prince William County. Correa-Rodriguez has experience as both an English and ESOL teacher.

She worked with the development of educational program changes leading to greater on-time graduation, particularly with ELL students. Correa-Rodriguez earned a Bachelor of Arts in Education from the University of Puerto Rico, where she also completed graduate coursework. She earned a Special Education Certification from Bayamon's Central University in Bayamon, Puerto Rico. Ms. Correa earned a Master of Education degree in Curriculum & Instruction from the University of Phoenix and is currently working on a doctorate in Education Administration at Capella University.
Sarah Rowe, Assistant Principal, Stafford Middle School

Rowe served as the Principal of Clifton Middle School in Alleghany County prior to assuming this position. She also served as a high school principal, Director of Career and Technical Center, Title I Specialist, middle school assistant principal, and sixth grade science teacher.
Rowe has vast experience as a secondary educator. She implemented successful learning
programs at both the middle and high school levels. Her experiences include master scheduling to
allow for intervention, maintaining a positive school culture for all stakeholders, and presenting and participating in numerous professional learning opportunities.
Rowe earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Mary Baldwin College and a Master of Education degree in Administration and Supervision from The University of Virginia.
Mark Jennings, Assistant Principal, Edward E. Drew, Jr. Middle School
Prior to assuming this role, Jennings was an Instructional Coach in Prince William County. He taught English at Rodney E. Thompson Middle School and was the Literacy Coach at Colonial Forge High School from 2008 to 2016. He began his teaching career in Spotsylvania County Schools.
Jennings facilitated collaborative learning teams to increase student achievement. He served as an in-district trainer for Research for Better Teaching and as an instructor for Praxis II English cohort for teachers seeking certification. Jennings participated in PLC training offered by Rick & Becky DuFour.
Jennings earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Liberty University. He earned a Master of Education degree in Curriculum & Instruction and a Master of Education degree in Administration in Supervision from the University of Virginia. Jennings also earned National Board Certification in English/Language Arts for Adolescents and Young Adults.
Lindsey Cashin, Assistant Principal, Dixon-Smith Middle School
Cashin served in the division for the past three years as the Coordinator for Stafford Public Day School. Prior to assuming this position, Cashin was Coordinator in Spotsylvania County Schools.
She began her career in Education in Prince William County, serving as a Special Education Teacher, Literacy Coach, and Transition Employment Specialist.
As the Coordinator for the Stafford Public Day School, Cashin oversaw the program development and implementation of the Day School. She managed the day-to-day supervision of faculty and staff for the program, and collaborated with outside placements and agencies for treatment planning.
Cashin earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and a Master of Arts degree in Special
Education from George Mason University. She earned a Master of Arts degree in Educational
Leadership from Virginia Commonwealth University.
Rose Averett, Assistant Principal, Rodney Thompson Middle School
Prior to assuming this role, Averett served as the Math Specialist at Rodney Thompson Middle since 2010. She began her career with Stafford County in 2004 as a middle school teacher.
Averett was a member of the School Leadership and School Improvement Teams at Thompson
Middle. She served as the PLC lead facilitator for math at all grade levels and the math department
leader. Ms. Averett has experience developing and presenting research-based professional
development workshops for teachers and leaders.
Averett earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Science from the University of Maryland and her Master of Education degree in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Virginia. She completed the requirements for her teaching and administrative endorsements from the University of Mary Washington.
Erin Barker, Assistant Principal, Hampton Oaks Elementary School
Barker began her teaching career as a fifth grade teacher at Winding Creek Elementary in 2011. She taught at Winding Creek as a fifth grade teacher and then as a Special Education Teacher until 2014. At that time, she moved to Culpeper County Schools where she served as a Special Education Teacher and Special Education Designee.
Barker served on School Leadership Teams and School Improvement Teams in both divisions.
She presented at Stafford County’s New Teacher Institute and to the Stafford County LD Teacher
Cohort. Barker has experience planning and leading both county and school wide events.
Barker earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, a Master of Education degree in Special Education from Old Dominion University, and her Education Specialist degree from the University of Virginia.
Stephanie Lee, Assistant Principal, Anthony Burns Elementary School
Lee has served in the division for the last ten years as a fifth grade teacher at Stafford Elementary School. During her tenure at Stafford Elementary School, Lee served as the Lead Teacher for Tutoring and Summer School. She served as the Mentor 360 Ambassador since 2016. Lee is a member of theSCPS Division Leadership Team and was a member of the Superintendent's Advisory Committee. She also served as a member of numerous school committees.
Lee earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education from Longwood University and a Master of Education degree in Education Leadership from the University of Mary Washington.
