Northern Virginia Memorial Day Weekend Weather: Sunshine Rules

STERLING, VA—One would be hard-pressed to come up with more palatable Memorial Day weekend weather forecast than the one that greets folks in the Northern Virginia area. Per the National Weather Service and other area forecasting outlets, look for loads of sunshine during the entire three-day span with but a scant chance of late-afternoon showers.

High temperatures will be in the 80s with comfortable evenings. Except for brick winds at times, Saturday will enter with almost picture-perfect conditions low on the humidity. As for Sunday, consider this from the Washington Post's Capital Weather Gang: "Classic summertime heat and mugginess return by Sunday. . ., along with the chance of a few showers or storms."

Sunday: A slight chance of showers before 9am, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 3pm. Mostly sunny, with a high near 90. West wind 5 to 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Sunday Night: A chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 3am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 69. Northwest wind 3 to 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
