Pedestrian Killed In Fredericksburg Car Crash: Police
A woman died on Wednesday morning after she was hit by a car while attempting to cross Route 3 in Fredericksburg, according to police.
FREDERICKSBURG, VA — A 52-year-old woman from Spotsylvania died on Wednesday after she was struck by a car on Route 3, according to Virginia State Police. The woman, Gena Wood, died at the scene of the crash, authorities said.
Virginia State Police said the crash occurred at 4:32 a.m. on Wednesday, May 26. The crash happened at the intersection of Route 3 and Altoona Drive in the City of Fredericksburg.
Authorities said a 2009 Honda Accord was travelling westbound on Route 3 when it struck the pedestrian. The pedestrian was walking southbound within a crosswalk when she was hit, according to police.

Though she was using a crosswalk, it was not telling her to cross at the time, according to a report from Virginia State Police. The traffic light was green for the Honda Accord.
The driver, a 55-year-old man, was not injured. He stayed at the scene after the crash, police said.

No charges have been filed in the crash, authorities said.
Westbound Route 3 was closed for multiple hours on Wednesday, Fredericksburg police said in a Facebook post.
