FREDERICKSBURG, VA — Butch has been at the Fredericksburg SPCA since January, and he is eager to find a forever home to call his home. Though he is about 5 years old, Butch still loves to carry around his favorite toy like a toddler, according to the Fredericksburg SPCA.

"This big blockhead sure does love attention from people around him," said Von Young, who works with the Fredericksburg SPCA. "Especially if they sneak him some extra meaty treats."

At the shelter, Butch enjoys going for walks outside and sniffing everything in his path. He also appreciates the opportunity to bask in the sun.

Butch is playful and smart, too. He likes to chase balls around the shelter's play yard whenever he can, and already understands the command "sit."

"Butch has been getting increasingly stressed out at the shelter in his kennel, as the environment is much different than a home," Young said. " It's loud and chaotic, and Butch prefers a less intrusive place to catch his z's."
