Rescue Me: Martha Is Ready To Ward Off Dastardly Squirrels
Martha is a dog currently available for adoption at the Fredericksburg SPCA. All of her puppies were adopted, now she needs her own home.

FREDERICKSBURG, VA — Have the squirrels in your backyard gotten too comfortable? Good news: Martha, a dog available for adoption at the Fredericksburg SPCA, would love to help handle that problem.
Martha is a "certified squirrel patrol member," the Fredericksburg SPCA said. "Let's be honest, we're all ready to harvest that $6 worth of tomatoes after having spent $347 setting up the seedlings, so we can't let those wily squirrels steal our joy or BLT ingredients."
In addition to her free squirrel defense services, Martha can provide world-class cuddles. All she asks in return is a healthy diet, belly rubs, and your undying love and affection.

The Fredericksburg SPCA also noted that Martha could do well in a home with other dogs or cats. "Martha is excellent friends with her feline roommate in the foster home and does not seem to mind other canine friends either."
Despite Martha's charming personality, her life hasn't been all roses so far. "Martha is also a survivor," the SPCA said. "She was seen by our veterinarian and tested positive for Lyme & Ehrlichia."

Ehrlichia, like the more commonly known Lyme Disease, can be transmitted through ticks and can cause an array of physical and neurological issues in dogs. "Staff and our amazing foster fam rallied around this brave gal and made sure she got the medical care and TLC she needed," the SPCA said.
When Martha arrived at the SPCA, she was also pregnant with nine puppies. Her puppies successfully found homes, but now Martha needs one of her own.
If you bring Martha home today, not only do you receive a squirrel protection employee, you also gain an all-star belly rub receiver, a life-long survivor, and a great mother.
