Richard Craig Dougherty, 68

Richard Craig Dougherty, 68, of Fredericksburg, passed away the evening of Sunday, Jan. 24 2016, at Mary Washington Hospital.

Mr. Dougherty was a U.S. Army veteran, who served with the 101st Airborne in Vietnam, receiving the Army Commendation Medal. He was the owner of Dougherty’s Tavern and a supporter of the “Shop With A Cop Program” and other giving organizations. He loved camping, canoeing and spending time with his friends and family.

Survivors include his wife of 20 years, Arlene T. Dougherty; seven children, Tari, Toby, Danny, Brianna, Amanda, Brad, and Chris; grandchildren, Carolyn, Andrew, Tiffany, Madison, Savannah, Jeremy, Allison, Brandon, Cody, and Bradley; great grandchildren, Aaron, Weston, Mason, and Raegan; a brother, Kenny; and his sisters, Sallie and Bonnie. He was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Samantha and Ashton, and a brother, Ronnie.

A Celebration of Life gathering will be held from 12 to 3 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 30, at Dougherty’s Tavern.

Burial will be private.
