Route 3 Reopens In Westmoreland County After Flood Waters Recede
VDOT was forced to close Route 3 near Chandlers Mill Pond, west of Montross, forcing motorists to take detours around the flooded area.

WESTMORELAND COUNTY, VA — The Virginia Department of Transportation reopened Route 3 in Westmoreland County Friday morning after flood waters from heavy rains early Thursday had receded.
VDOT was forced to close Route 3 near Chandlers Mill Pond, west of Montross, forcing motorists to take detours around the flooded area.
Officials kept the road closed Thursday night in order to inspect a bridge in the area. Although flood waters had receded from the road surface on Route 3, water levels remained on the bridge beams and needed to drop further before VDOT could safely inspect the area underneath the bridge for structural damage.
