A severe thunderstorm watch has been issued by the National Weather Service for the entire Northern Virginia area. We have details.
STERLING, VA—Here we go again, boys and girls. A severe thunderstorm watch has been issued by the National Weather Service for the entire Northern Virginia area, including Fredericksburg, until 9 p.m. To wit: "Isolated severe thunderstorms with damaging wind gusts, large hail, and an isolated tornado are possible. The greatest risk exists north of the I-64 corridor."
There's also this from the Washington Post's Capital Weather Gang: "Thunderstorms are gathering intensity west of the area and into western suburbs. These storms will be moving into the region over the next several hours from west to east."
