Shooting In Spotsylvania Critically Injures One Person: Police
There were multiple shootings on Saturday morning in Spotsylvania, including one that critically injured a 23-year-old man, police said.
SPOTSYLVANIA COUNTY, VA — One man was seriously injured after he was shot near the Lee's Hill shopping center early on Saturday morning, according to the Spotsylvania County Sheriff's Office. The 23-year-old victim underwent surgery at a nearby hospital and was listed in critical condition.
In total, there were three different reports of shots fired in Spotsylvania County on Saturday morning. In addition to the shooting that injured the 23-year-old victim, two residences reported multiple gunshots into their dwellings, according to the sheriff's office.
At 2:15 a.m. on Saturday, June 19, deputies responded to a report of an assault in progress with shots fired. "When they arrived on the scene, deputies encountered a large chaotic crowd," the sheriff's office wrote on Facebook. The deputies requested assistance from the Fredericksburg Police Department in an effort to control the crowd, authorities said.

As deputies entered the crowd, they found a 23-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound. The deputies provided first aid until paramedics arrived on scene.
The man was taken to a nearby hospital, where he underwent surgery. On Saturday, the sheriff's office described the victim's condition as "critical."

During their initial investigation, deputies determined that the crowd gathered after a nearby restaurant closed for the night. As the crowd gathered in the Lee Hill shopping center parking lot, a fight broke out. Deputies believed that there were multiple shooters.
Around 3 a.m. on Saturday morning, deputies received another report of shots fired at a home on Daffodil Drive. Multiple gunshots were fired into a single home, authorities said. No injuries were reported.
Just before 5 a.m. on Saturday, deputies received another report of shots fired. They found that someone fired multiple gunshots into a home on Terra Springs Drive. No injuries were reported in this incident.
Deputies are currently investigating the series of shootings. "Detectives believe that some of the shootings are related," the sheriff's office disclosed on Facebook.
