Spotsylvania County Museum Announces Two-In-One Art Event
The Spotsylvania County Museum is hosting a two-in-one art event this weekend in partnership with the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts.

SPOTYSLVANIA, VA — The Spotsylvania County Museum will host a two-in-one art event this weekend, in partnership with the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts. The Virginia Museum of Fine Arts' Artmobile will be on site to promote fine art and history.
This weekend's event, located at 6159 Plank Road in Fredericksburg, allows visitors to access exhibits from two museums in one trip. The free event on June 26 and 27 is a lead up to Spotsylvania's annual art festival in August.
This weekend, visitors will be able to take a guided tour, speak with the museum's curator about the exhibits, and view the Artmobile's stellar art collection, according to the museum. Entry and parking are both free.

There will also be food trucks, artisan vendors, and special art activities for children as part of the two-in-one event, the museum said.
The Virginia Museum of Fine Arts' Artmobile launched in October 2018. The 53-foot climate-controlled Volvo trailer offers free wi-fi to connect visitors with educators and provide access to interactive components and exhibits through the internet.

The Artmobile is most notable for its assortment of fine art from the museum's collection. The trailer travels across the state as the main attraction of "VMFA on the Road."
The exhibit visits more remote areas of Virginia, as part of the museum's statewide partners program. The program includes hundreds of locations across the state, including universities, high schools, libraries, community centers, and senior care facilities.
The visit from the Artmobile is a prelude to this summer's scheduled Spotsylvania Art Festival, the museum said. August's art festival is a two-day event on Aug. 14 and 15 that includes a judged art contest with more than 50 entrants.
"The Spotsy Arts Festival has proven to be a valuable asset for regional tourism with continued growth each year," the museum said in a news release. In past years, the event has attracted more than 1,500 visitors, according to the museum.
