Stafford County Fair 2019: Dates, Admission, Event Schedule, More

The Stafford County Agricultural and Homemaking Fair kicks off tonight and continues through Oct. 20. Here's what you need to know to go.

STAFFORD, VA — The 2019 Stafford County Fair kicks off Thursday night, and area fairgoers will have a chance to enjoy a variety of rides, live music, a demolition derby, tractor pulls, pony rides, goat races and more.

The first annual Stafford County Club and School Fair was held at Stafford High School on Oct. 21, 1922 for two days. After a number of absences over the decades due to drought and war, the fair was revived in 2010 and to this day, despite still searching for a permanent home, continues to promote agriculture, community spirit, family fun events, motor sports, home-making contests and more.

LOCATION & PARKING

This year's fair is held at 9000 Celebrate Virginia Pkwy. in Fredericksburg. Several free lots are available for parking at the event, including:

  • Gate 1, General Parking: Located at the end of Celebrate Virginia Parkway.
  • Gate 2, Motorsports Parking: This lot is located at the Mooney Park entrance, and is ideal for those attending the truck and tractors pulls and demolition derby.
  • General Parking: Located to the left of the clubhouse building.

HOURS

The fair runs Thursday, 5-10 p.m.; Friday, 5-11 p.m., Saturday, 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.; and Sunday, 12-9 p.m.

ADMISSION

Admission to the fairgrounds is free; however, tickets must be purchased for carnival rides. Tickets are $1 each or 24 tickets for $20 or 48 tickets for $40. Several specials are planned throughout the event, which consist of unlimited rides for $20-35 per person. Tickets are available for purchase in advance.

MUSIC

In addition to regular events, the Stafford County Fair has planned nightly performances by musical artists including Nashville-based Wesley Spangler, The Dawn of Sean and The Scenic Roots.

ATTRACTIONS & EVENTS

This year's fair features a variety of unique, everyday attractions including games, pig, goat and duck racing, 4-H shows, a petting zoo, pony rides, homemaking contests, and an antique and tractor show.

The fair also has an impressive lineup of events this year, including a drone team demo Thursday night, a kids Power Wheels derby on Friday, the championship truck and tractor pull Saturday, and the demolition derby on Sunday.

HOMEMAKING

A variety of crafts, projects, photography and food items will be on display in the Homemaking Building. Each item is submitted for judging and awards are announced after the fair.

ALSO AT THE FAIR

Local vendors selling a variety of goods and services will be on hand. Be sure to bring extra cash for games and food.
