Stafford's Aquia district, which includes areas east of Route 1 along the Aquia Creek, also held a primary election for the Republican nomination for the Board of County Supervisors. Incumbent Cindy Shelton was defeated by Paul Milde, who previously served on the board. Milde garnered 70 percent of the vote, according to unofficial results from the Virginia Public Access Project.
Milde preceded Shelton as the Aquia district's representative, but left the position to pursue a seat in the state's House of Delegates in 2019. His bid was unsuccessful, as he lost the election to Democrat Joshua Cole.
Milde also served as the chairman of the board during his previous stint as a supervisor. On his website, Milde said he would focus on improving the infrastructure of Stafford County. "He’s been pivotal in starting, funding, and completing hundreds of infrastructure projects," Milde's website says.
